We undertook a lot of research before deciding to change our lives and move to this particular corner of France.
One of the biggest influences was our need for "things to do" with the children....we knew that we were spoilt in London and wanted to make sure that the girls didn't miss out.
Fortunately we chose well and the area around Cognac is idyllic for families like ours.
Cinemas, theatres, bowling, ice skating, water-skiing, horse riding, gym, dance, golf, canoeing...you name it the girls have done it.
There are also plenty of places to go. From Europe's finest
zoo in Royan to Champions League football in
Bordeaux.
We have visitors at the moment and seven of us piled into the trusty VW and spent a glorious day at the wonderful
Vallée des Singes which is about an hour north of us.
